CHARACTERISE / SERVICE 09

NMR characterisation & CT integration.

We integrate NMR relaxation data with CT imaging and laboratory core-analysis measurements to assess fluid-bearing pore space and support pore-system interpretation.

THE QUESTION

How does the NMR response fit the pore-system evidence?

Bring the measured NMR response into the same sample framework as CT and core analysis. Review sample state, acquisition information and coverage before comparing the evidence.

Methods & applications

  • Integration of supplied fresh-state whole-core NMR data
  • T₂ relaxation distributions and NMR-visible liquid response
  • Comparison with CT imagery and laboratory core measurements
  • Fresh-state and post-cleaning comparison where available

RESPONSE · STRUCTURE · MEASUREMENT

Three views of the same rock.

01 / NMR response NMR-visible liquid response

Read the liquid response

Review supplied T₂ relaxation distributions with the sample state and acquisition information.

02 / CT structure Resolved fabric & structure

See the internal context

Use CT to locate resolved structures and assess the material represented by the NMR measurement.

03 / Core measurements Independent laboratory evidence

Add independent evidence

Compare with laboratory core-analysis results, accounting for preparation and sampled volume.

INTEGRATED PORE-SYSTEM INTERPRETATION

Align the evidence by sample and state. Compare fresh-state and post-cleaning responses only where both measurements are available.

NMR · CT · CORE ANALYSIS

Read the measurements together.

Fresh-state response

Review supplied whole-core NMR measurements in the context of the sample as received. Retain the recorded sample state and acquisition information alongside the relaxation data.

Relaxation distributions

Use T₂ distributions and the NMR-visible liquid response as part of the pore-system assessment. Keep measured response separate from interpretations that require additional calibration.

CT and laboratory integration

Relate NMR observations to internal structure in CT imagery and independent laboratory measurements. Document differences in sampled volume, coverage and preparation state.

Post-cleaning comparison

Where repeat measurements are available and sample condition permits, compare fresh-state and post-cleaning responses. Record the intervening preparation and avoid treating a planned repeat as a completed measurement.

An integrated interpretation connects complementary evidence; it does not make CT, NMR and laboratory measurements interchangeable.

A clearly scoped delivery.

CTS is your point of contact for planning the programme and bringing the results together. Where specialist laboratory or interpretation input is required, delivery responsibilities are identified in your proposal.

The scope distinguishes the measurement package and its included outputs from additional processing, interpretation and interactive reporting. Sample requirements and method limitations are confirmed before work begins.

A CONNECTED WORKFLOW

From question to evidence.

  1. 01

Review supplied NMR and sample-state records

  2. 02

Align the NMR, CT and laboratory evidence

  3. 03

Compare available fresh-state and post-cleaning measurements

  4. 04

    Report integrated observations and limitations

Interpretation boundary
Fresh-state versus post-cleaning comparison is not a controlled fluid-exposure experiment. This scope does not include standalone fluid typing or direct permeability measurement from NMR. Repeat measurements depend on availability and sample condition.
